Senior Accountant - General Ledger


The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the accounting records and transactions for multiple operating units; will be a key contributor to the financial closing processes; and will be involved in the preparation of the company’s income statement and balance sheet, account analysis/reconciliations of general ledger accounts, and monthly journal entries.


  • Prepare monthly journal entries for financial statement close process.
  • Prepare financial statements for a group of subsidiary companies.
  • Prepare account reconciliations.
  • Prepare GL bank reconciliations.
  • Process customer and vendor payments via ACH through the bank online portal.
  • Assist with audits.
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in general ledger accounts.
  • Accurately record and track company transactions.
  • Special projects as needed, involving coordination and communication between various internal and external systems.
  • Follow CSWR policies and guidelines at all times.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Corporate Paralegal/Legal Assistant

The Corporate Paralegal/Legal Assistant will assist and support the General Counsel and other corporate personnel in resolving varied and complex legal and business issues affecting a growing, multi-state family of regulated utility companies while ensuring compliance with internal policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing regulatory commission filings, including legal pleadings, discovery responses, and written testimony and exhibits.
  • With the assistance of the General Counsel, draft, edit, and revise legal documents and business contracts.
  • Facilitate and assist completion of business contracts (i.e. collecting necessary information, filling in form contracts, drafting and reviewing statements of work, proofreading, and editing) to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Perform research, retrieve documents, and prepare written reports.
  • Create, administer, and maintain document databases.
  • Respond to questions regarding legal matters and requests for information and documents.
  • Assist in communicating to fellow employees external and internal legal and policy requirements.
  • Work extensively and independently with outside counsel and state regulatory commission personnel.
  • Draft letters, emails, and other correspondence.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies, or comparable training and experience.
  • Six or more years’ experience; experience with a public utility a plus.
  • General knowledge of legal structure affecting regulated companies.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of legal and document research.
  • Ability to work with outside counsel, paralegals, and experts.
  • Demonstrated document drafting and editing experience.
  • Critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving and fast-changing work environment.
  • Current notary certificate or ability to obtain one within a short period after hire.

Regulatory Analyst/Project Coordinator

Position Summary 

Water infrastructure is a critical component of the health of all communities in the United States. Unfortunately, much of the water infrastructure supporting our communities is failing due to lack of investment. Central States Water Resources, Inc. (CSWR) is at the forefront of the water utility industry by bringing solutions to some of the most troubled water infrastructure systems in the United States. CSWR is actively acquiring, renovating, and stabilizing water and wastewater operations in many communities, bringing the infrastructure investment needed to ensure safe, reliable water service to allow communities to thrive. CSWR’s mission is to make safe water resources available to every community in America.

The Regulatory Analyst/Project Coordinator will play a key role in collecting, interpreting, and communicating information that is used throughout multiple different business processes by various internal and external stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for coordinating with utility owners, legal counsels, and various other 3rd parties to ensure business processes are running effectively and efficiently. Additionally, this position requires the ability to organize and juggle multiple different functions for multiple operating units simultaneously.

Essential Functions:

  • Collecting, interpreting, and effectively communicating data on water and wastewater utility companies
  • Responding to regulatory information requests to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Tracking and projecting key milestones across multiple operating units
  • Working with key stakeholders (internal and external) to provide necessary information
  • Analyzing business processes to identify deficiencies and areas for improvement
  • Communicating and requesting information from utility owners across multiple states
  • Supporting the submission of state regulatory filings
  • Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Guaranteeing project deadlines are met
  • Ensuring stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution
  • Other duties as assigned.

Consumer Experience Analyst

The Consumer Experience Analyst is responsible for content creation for social media, community relations, customer education, corporate social responsibility, and support for local operations, outreach activities and external communication. This role is focused on supporting the company’s strategic communication efforts to effectively position the company with customers and key opinion leaders. The Consumer Experience Analyst is a key communications resource, working closely with the Customer Experience Director, Regulatory Analyst, and other team members to maximize the company's communications effectiveness, flexibility and responsiveness within the communities we serve.

Key Accountabilities

• Working with the Director of Customer Experience and Public Relations, coordinates the company’s social media platform and website presence.

• Helps support the strategic communications needs of the utility operating companies. Assists in the proactive development of communications materials/tactics with appropriate messaging and graphics.

• Helps implement communications strategies and initiatives that educate and engage customers and external stakeholders. Understands the attitudes and concerns of customers and the communities we serve and establishes and maintains cooperative and effective relationships with stakeholders. Assists in implementing communications strategies, tactics, and activities to ensure ongoing, consistent and targeted communications.

• Working with the Director of Customer Experience, helps identify and develop opportunities to enhance the company's reputation as a good corporate citizen, employing effective communications strategies and leveraging key community initiatives that align with company goals.

• Works with Public Relations in implementing comprehensive strategic communications plans including social media, community relations/events, and sponsorship/memberships. Plans and executes these activities in an organized, proactive manner. Supports efforts to develop and implement proactive, coordinated and aligned external communication materials, including crisis communications materials.

• Assists in monitoring internal/external business developments and identifying connections between business activities and industry trends that may pose a threat or benefit to the company’s reputation. Works closely with the Director of Customer Experience, Business Development Team and the Customer Service Center Communications team to ensure that materials are developed and ordered on a timely basis to meet the needs of state operations.

• Assists in developing and executing external-facing communications materials and community events in support of Central States Water Resources business operations within Central States Water Resources Consumer Experience Analyst each utility operating company. Provides communications support to business development activities, when needed.

• Assists in developing and executing and customer engagement strategies in support of the company’s business objectives.

• Assists in the planning and execution of community events to build community awareness of Central States Water Resources and position the company for brand-building opportunities.

• Helps coordinate and manage external sponsorships and partnerships.

• Works with the Director of Customer Experience and Public Relations to deliver water education programs for the general community and school-aged children that enhance the presence of Central States Water Resources.


• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and re-prioritize quickly.

• Has excellent and efficient working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel. Experience in graphic design and/or multimedia software is preferred.

• Has a general knowledge of strategic communications.

• Strong understanding of social media platforms and ability to create and leverage social media content.

• Is adept at developing traditional media materials including press releases, letters to the editor, and op-eds.

• Some experience in graphic design and/or multimedia production, including content creation and editing, is preferred.

• Is knowledgeable of community-based organizations.

• Ability to respond tactfully and in a timely manner to customer inquiries and other external requests.

• Has ability to assist in planning and executing external community and industry events


• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, graphic design, advertising, or related field preferred, or demonstrated experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.

• Five years of experience preferred in communications, public relations, social media, advertising, multimedia production, graphic design, marketing or community relations
